Ice Cream and Coaching and how Mama spends her days.

My three year old keeps trying to figure out what exactly I do for work. We have a variation of this conversation on the way to daycare at least once a week:

3: Mama, you goin’ to your office?

Me: No, love, I don’t work at that office anymore. Remember? I have a desk at home now and I work there.

3: What you gonna do at home? (He asks, worried I might watch Blippi without him.)

Me: I’m going to talk to people on the computer, hon.

3: Why?

Me: So I can help them.

3: Why?

Me: So they can grow and learn to do what they want to do.

3: How they do that?

Me: I don’t know yet, darlin’. That’s why I have to talk to them.

Turns out, it’s a bit hard to explain to a toddler what a life coach does.

Actually, lots of adults have questions about it too. In fact, you might be wondering what it is I actually do!

Essentially, a life coach is someone who partners with you to pursue your development and achieve your goals.

Maybe you’ve been meaning to start a blog, take better care of yourself, save some money, or get a hobby. Maybe you need to improve your communication skills, stop yelling at your kids, or be more present with your partner. Maybe you need to develop management skills, ask for a raise, change a toxic culture, or consider a new career.

Now, can you pursue those things on your own? Of course.

Do you? That’s a bit more complicated. We often have excellent intentions…and we usually need a bit of help. That’s where coaching comes in.

There are so many things I want to tell you about why coaching can help!

Coaching is strengths-based, client-centered, and forward-focused. It provides accountability, and embraces the whole person. I could write a whole post about each one of those...and you still might have questions about it.

When I worked at summer camp, there was a skit we used to put on where someone is trying to describe ice cream to someone who’s never tried it. They’re using words like drippy, soft, wet, sugary. And it just makes ice cream sound so strange - especially when you know how good it really is! In the end, the characters decide, you can’t understand ice cream from a description; you just have to try it for yourself.

Coaching is like that. If you’ve never had someone pay attention to your life in a focused and generative way, a lot of these descriptions are going to sound a bit...strange. But, if you’ve experienced coaching, you know how good it is.

I want you to have that experience.

I’ve spent the last eight months launching my coaching practice, Burning Point Coaching and Consulting, and I love it. I believe in it so much, I want everyone to try coaching!

So, I have an offer for you:

Individual coaching sessions usually cost $150. But, during the month of June, if you are booking for the first time, you can buy up to four sessions for $50 each.

Visit my booking page here and use the coupon code TRYITFOR50 to book your first session.

You can read more about me and my practice at www.burningpoint.ca and you can sign up to have my blog delivered to your inbox.

As we’re heading into summer, I know there are areas in your life where you’d like to see change or growth. I can help with that. Let’s book some sessions and let you experience coaching for yourself.
